Day 2:
Wednesday morning we enjoyed a breakfast of fresh picked naval oranges (which we had every morning for breakfast and most days for a snack) and then got ready to head to the
Gladys Porter Zoo. Our kids love the local zoo so when we heard there was one close to mom we just had to make a trip to see it. The whole extended family tagged along so we ended up taking three cars with a total of 11 people! It was a great zoo with lots of animals that we don't have. Collin was absolutely enthralled by the crocodiles inside the insect building and I absolutely loved the gorillas. We happened to be at the window during snack time so the older two (one male and one female who are kept separated from the younger ones) came right up to the window and we got a great view. We probably spent 20 minutes just hanging out watching those two! When I ask Sophia what her favorite was she starts with giraffes, and the bears, and the lions, and the fish. I think its safe to say she loved it all!
After the zoo we headed out to lunch at Cheddars, which we loved when it was in Des Moines and have really missed since it closed down. After lunch we did some driving around just taking in sights, including the fence separating Mexico and the US, and then went back for even more swimming!
