What a crazy two weeks we have had since my last post! After seeing Dr R on Friday Sophia couldn't manage to keep her antibiotics down so we ended up going to the weekend clinic on Saturday for a shot of Rocephin (antibiotic). She took that pretty well, but then Sunday morning she was batting at the full length mirror in our room and cut her right pointer finger open. We thought we had it bandaged up well enough at home, but she kept taking the bandaid off and trying to swallow it so we took a trip to the Mercy weekend clinic. She ended up needing four stitches in her tiny little finger. She SCREAMED the whole time they had her strapped down to do it, but really tolerated the stitches well and they came out this past Monday.
We took another trip to the pediatrician yesterday for yet another ear infection. This time its in both ears and they got us in with the ENT today. Dr Zlab and his staff were absolutely wonderful and we have scheduled surgery for Monday, January 26 to get tubes in. Poor baby is so sick of everyone looking in her ears. One big factor in us rushing to surgery is that they tested her hearing today and it is decreased. We are hoping its just because of the infection she has right now, but will do another test a month out from surgery to make sure there is no permanent damage done.
I am so nervous about surgery, but at the same time I am so hopeful that this will end our constant visits to the doctor and help her gain some weight as she has lost about half a pound since her 9 month appointment because the infections decrease her appetite and the antibiotics don't agree with her little tummy. So please keep us in your prayers that she can stay healthy until surgery and that everything goes well.

I am sure the surgery will do wonders for Sophia. My niece had the same problems (worried about her hearing and lots of ear infections). She had tubes put in around 9 mos. and they did wonders for her. We will be thinking about the little one!
