5 years old!!!

I can hardly believe it, but our baby girl turned 5 last week!  Its amazing the great strides she has made over the past year and how grown up she is becoming right in front of our eyes.  She is so ready for kindergarten its scary!  We had a quiet day on her actual birthday, celebrating with rainbow pancakes for breakfast and Red Robin for supper.  Today, however, Brad took the day off work and we had a special "Sophia Day" while my mom watched Collin!

We started off with her well visit with Dr Beebe.  She now weighs 36 1/4 pounds (25%) and is 39 1/2 inches tall (5%).  Her physical went great and she is a picture of health other than some dry skin from the winter weather.  She did take a little eye exam, which came back at 20/40 so they are recommending that we get her in to see our eye doctor.  We just recently switched eye insurance and Brad and I have appointments coming up next week with a new eye doctor so I'm going to see how well I like him before making Sophia an appointment.  I'm so much more picky about who our kids see than who we do!  The end of the appointment had some drama, as she needed two booster shots.  She knew they were coming and was a bit nervous, but did really well.  She cried a bit, but didn't fight or throw a fit at all.  We were both so proud of her!

After the doctor's appointment we were off to start our adventures, which were all still a surprise to Sophia.  We headed over to the mall for lunch (Panera for us girls and Subway for Brad).  After lunch we checked out our movie options and then headed over to Build A Bear.  For the last year, Sophia has been asking to go walk around and look at the bears.  She has done really well not begging for one, but we knew she really wanted one.  So, today she got to pick a bear of her very own, including a little outfit and shoes.  After her bear was all put together, named, and paid for we headed back to watch The Croods, which was a really fun movie for all of us.  We splurged and got popcorn and drinks and really enjoyed ourselves.  From there it was off to the mall play area and Claire's to pick out some new earrings.  We ended the afternoon with some pretzels bites and were off home to show Collin and Grandma all her loot!

It really was a great day and I was so glad to spend a day with just the three of us.  I know Sophia sometimes feels like Collin gets all our attention and it was great to spend a day completely devoted to her.  Of course, those days won't always be so expensive!  She really is turning into such an amazing little girl and before we know it the days of wanting to hang out with mom and dad will be long gone so we are going to cherish them while we still can!
