Hand, Foot, and Mouth

Well, we had big plans to go camping over Memorial Day weekend, but Collin decided to throw us a curve ball.  He didn't sleep well Wednesday night and woke up with a fever on Thursday.  Ultimately it got up into the 103s, which is the highest we have seen out of either kiddo.  So, we spent Thursday cuddling watching TV while Sophia played quietly, colored, and watched far too many cartoons.  He didn't sleep well again that night and woke up with a slight fever and general crankiness on Friday so I decided to take him in to see if we should even attempt camping.  Thank goodness I did because we were experiencing our first ever case of hand, foot, and mouth.  The spots in his mouth were so far back on the roof of his mouth that I never would have seen them.  So, no camping for us.  Sophia also ended up with a very mild case, but both kids are back to normal again now.

Poor Brad, instead of the nice, leisurely weekend we had planned, he spent it working.  He put up the new ceiling mounted garage shelves, cleaned out the utility and storage rooms in the basement, helped me reorganize all three, and then helped me hang a few pictures and do a general deep clean on the entire house.  Seriously, poor Brad!  I get a sense of satisfaction out of that kind of work, but he really doesn't!

We did finally get a chance to relax on Monday and spent most of the day playing in the basement and lounging around.  We ended the long weekend with dinner with the Steffens and an impromptu trip to the park since the weather had finally cleared!
