Summer!

Even though today is the official first day of summer, ours has been in full swing for a couple weeks now.  Last week Sophia took Safety City through our local police department and had a blast while learning about all sorts of safety issues, including strangers, gun safety, pedestrian and bicycle safety, and poison safety.  The city really does put on a great program and I'm glad we spent the money to send her.

This week she was supposed to start swimming lessons through the Clive Aquatic Center, but there was some confusion over which class she should be in and some horrible customer service on their part so she didn't take lessons.  Instead, we spent the week playing outside, going to the splash pad, venturing over to Bondurant to the new Freedom Rock, and going to Ankeny to a fabulous new park they have that has a pirate ship play structure!  All this while Brad was out of town and my mom was standing in for him.  Grandma's worn out!  :-)

This coming week Collin gets to take his swimming lessons (as long as they didn't mess up with him as well) and then suddenly its the fourth of July!

I've also started watching Bentley full time so the kids have been excited to have a new playmate around.  Don't tell her parents, but she actually makes my job a lot easier because she and Collin entertain each other so well.  ;-)
