4 Months Old

Yesterday Collin hit four months old.  Again, Sophia sang him a lovely rendition of Happy Birthday several times throughout the day!

He is still a happy little boy most of the time giving out lots of smiles, especially when someone (anyone) talks to him.  He does love to get attention!  While he freely gives out smiles, he is very stingy with his laughs.  We have only had two full laughing episodes, both in the bathtub, and a few little chuckles here and there.  He may be happy, but he's serious.  His sleep took a nosedive in the last month with several nights of waking up every 2-3 hours and wanting to eat.  I'd say we are about 50-50 on good nights versus bad lately.  As a result I checked out a couple sleep books from the library and have decided we will be getting serious about getting him to stretch out his nighttime sleeping and eventually getting him to put himself to sleep at night on a more consistent basis.  He is usually good about being laid down drowsy, but awake, but about once a week even attempting it turns into a crying fit.  As of now we are just focusing on getting him down to one feeding per night.  If he needs to hang onto that one for a while longer I'm okay with that, but Mommy can't be awake half the night and still function the next day!

His most recent milestone, as noted in my last post, is rolling over from his tummy to his back.  He has done it several more times for us since Friday and we get excited every single time!  He can also go from his back to his side so I know rolling all the way around isn't too far off.

While some people start solids at four months we are holding off on that.  With Sophia we waited until shortly after five months.  Originally the plan was to wait until Collin was six months old, but he really is showing some interest in what we are eating so we may follow in Sophia's shoes and start closer to five months, but we'll have to wait and see.

He is growing, and was up to 9.75 pounds at our last unofficial weekly weigh in on the Wii, but we won't have an official four month weight until we see Dr. Beebe at the end of the month.  I'd love it if he passed 10 pounds by then for her, though.  He is now in size 1 diapers and has outgrown roughly half of his newborn size clothing.  Some of the "bigger" newborn stuff still fits and I officially moved the 0-3 clothing into the rotation yesterday, although some of it still looks huge on him.  We definitely get our money's worth out of his clothing!
