Writing
Sophia has been able to legibly write her name for about the past year and a half, but never showed a huge interest in going past that. Last week, though, she sought out her preschool teacher to ask her to help her write some words. Each week our preschool does a letter of the week and the kids have to come up with words that start with that letter. Miss Sydney grabbed Sophia's words and they went to work writing them. She did an amazing job. Since then she has asked almost daily if she could write some words. She can now write her entire alphabet legibly as well as all of our names. I've always felt that it was my job to encourage the kids to learn, but not push it, and it looks like it paid off. I figure they've got plenty of time to deal with assignments and deadlines, now is the time to learn about what they are interested in.
